Pandit Nirmalya Dey is a leading Dhrupad vocalist known for his deep immersion in the Dagar tradition and his powerful, meditative renditions of ragas.

Shri Prasanna Vishwanathan — Vocal

Shri Prasanna Vishwanathan is a dedicated practitioner of Dhrupad vocal music, bringing sincerity and depth to his performances.

Shri Wonseak Chang — Surbahar

Shri Wonseak Chang is an accomplished exponent of the Surbahar, a bass variant of the sitar traditionally used for Dhrupad-style instrumental music. His playing captures the slow, contemplative essence of alap and jod.

Pt Sanjay Agle & Shri Vivek Kurangale — Pakhawaj

Pandit Sanjay Agle and Shri Vivek Kurangale provided the rhythmic foundation on the Pakhawaj, the traditional percussion instrument of Dhrupad.

About the Festival

The Chembur Dhrupad Festival is an annual event organized by the Indian School of Dhrupad to honour the memory of Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar, two legendary figures who dedicated their lives to the propagation of Dhrupad music.
